From Eric: Last year I created a portable, wearable photo studio complete with studio lighting and medium format digital capture. I called it the Human Light Suit and I took it to Burning man. I photographed as many people as I could handle each day, and the photos were amazingly well received -- but it left me wanting more. I wanted to be able to shoot and light from different angles, and to have more power to shoot and fully light some of the large-scale art on the playa during the day (preferably with it's creators). The internet went abuzz asking me to do a book, and while that is up to the participants and the Burning Man organization, it is something I'd love to see happen, and this year's project will give us the variety of images needed to make an even more captivating collection of images. This year we're bringing more power, more people, and more wheels. Three new, more lightweight and portable suits are being developed for 3 assistants to be Human Lights themselves (assistants TBD! Volunteer!). A pedal-powered vehicle will carry battery power and lighting for some of our more devious and ambitious photographic plans.
